Haikyu!! English dub is finally streaming on Crunchyroll

Haikyu!! is one of the most popular sports anime of its generation. While fans love the original Japanese version, a large portion also enjoy the English dub. Until now, however, that version has been hard to find across most platforms, due to some complicated rights juggling. Crunchyroll has announced that it has officially acquired the series’ English dub, making it widely available at last. The English dub of Haikyu!!’s first two seasons is now available on Crunchyroll, while the remaining seasons are still offered in Japanese with English subtitles. Due to past licensing issues, the dub has been difficult to find across streaming platforms; however, with its arrival on Crunchyroll, the once-elusive version is now more easily accessible. Recently, Crunchyroll faced backlash from fans after several anime titles, including Claymore, were suddenly removed from the platform without warning. However, those removals were largely due to broader licensing issues affecting entire catalogs, not specifically the English dubs. Haikyu!!, created by Haruichi Furudate, is a sports anime based on the hit manga of the same name that ran from 2012 to 2020. The series first aired in 2014 and follows Shoyo Hinata, a determined high school student who aspires to become a top-class volleyball player despite his short stature. With the help of his rival-turned-teammate Tobio Kageyama and the rest of Karasuno High’s volleyball team, Hinata strives to take his team to the national championships. Haikyu!! is currently developing the second of two feature films set to conclude the anime series. The first film, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle was released in 2024 and continued the story from the anime’s fifth season. The grand finale, Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant will serve as the series’ ultimate send-off, though no release window has been announced yet. Director Susumu Mitsunaka, who helmed The Dumpster Battle, will return for Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant, which adapts the Nationals match between Karasuno and Kamomedai High. With several major manga arcs still unadapted, fans are eager to see how the anime wraps up its story. In addition, a new TV special titled Haikyu!! Bakemonotachi no Iku Tokoro will cover the Nationals match between Fukurodani and Mujinazaka High, bridging the two films. Haikyu!! is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll
