The ConVal football team continued its late-season surge, pulling out a 21-19 win over Milford for its third consecutive victory on Friday night in Peterborough. The Cougars (4-4) can post their first winning season since a 6-3 finish in 2016 with a win in next week's regular season finale against John Stark back in Peterborough on Friday at 7 p.m. ConVal sits one game behind three other teams — Kingswood, St. Thomas Aquinas and Hanover — vying for Division II's final three playoff spots. On Friday, it was a ConVal soccer player that made the difference on the scoreboard. Max Cail, senior captain and forward on the Cougars' soccer team, was 3-for-3 on point-after attempts. Milford carried a 6-0 lead into the second quarter. Kurt Dean put the Cougars on the board early in the second quarter with a 15-yard touchdown to Gabe Michaud to give the Cougars a 7-6 halftime lead. Michaud helped make it 14-6 in the third quarter, running in from seven yards out for his second touchdown of the game. Milford made it 14-12 with 5:56 remaining in the fourth when Gavyn Tessier broke out for a 36-yard touchdown run. Michaud returned the ensuing kickoff to the Milford 16-yard line, and Wetu Selby ran in from six yards out for the score. Cail's third PAT made it a two-score game with 4:41 remaining. Milford struck late, with Jacob Hill finding Marcus Kern for a 32-yard touchdown with 28 seconds left that made it 21-19 following the PAT. Ace Stevens fell on the ensuing onside kick attempt, sealing the ConVal win. Keene routed at North The Nashua North offense exploded as the Titans clinched a Division I playoff spot with a 41-7 rout over Keene High on Friday night at Stellos Stadium in Nashua. The Titans (4-4) ran back the opening kickoff 69 yards and the offense took over from there. North quarterback Brady O'Connor threw for 383 yards on just nine completions, going 9-for-14, with four touchdowns to four different receivers against a depleted Blackbirds squad. The Blackbirds (1-7, 1-6 in state) made a goal line stand to end the second quarter, down 14-0. Starting from their own 2-yard line, the Blackbirds opened the second with a 13-play, 93-yard drive that ate 8:05 off the clock but did not result in points. Keene got down to the Titans’ 5, but North defensive end Denzel Delgado de Jesus tackled Keene quarterback Colin Tinnin on a keeper at the line to turn the ball over on downs. North hit touchdown passes of 72 and 82 yards in the third quarter, and added another score in the fourth to lead 35-0. Jack Gillard broke loose for a 20-yard touchdown run with 3:06 remaining to get Keene on the board. North's Jedwin Lluveres added another kickoff return for a touchdown on the ensuing kick to cap the Titans' night on the scoreboard. Gillard led the Blackbirds with 88 yards on 22 carries. Tinnin was 5-for-11 for 55 passing yards with 76 yards on 10 rushes. He exited the game early in the third quarter and was replaced under center by Grady Erickson, who added 31 yards on the ground.
