GTEC warns public against 50 unrecognised tertiary institutions

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has issued a formal warning to the public and all heads of tertiary institutions about a list of 50 institutions that are not recognised by the Commission. In an official statement signed by the Director-General, Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, GTEC explained that these institutions have failed to meet the required accreditation and quality assurance standards, and are therefore not authorised to operate as tertiary institutions in Ghana. GTEC urged all stakeholders, especially educational institutions, employers, and prospective students, to take the caution seriously and avoid dealings with the listed institutions. The Commission further emphasised that academic qualifications obtained from these unrecognised institutions may not be valid for employment or further studies. The list includes both foreign and Ghana-based institutions, with names such as: * Universidad Azteca (Mexico)* Indian School of Management and Studies (India)* Atlantic International University (USA)* Debest College of Science, Arts and Business (Ghana)* Osiri University (USA)* Faith University Seminary (Ghana)* University of America (USA)* Kingsnow University (USA)* Delta International University (USA)* New Life Bible College and Seminary (USA) In total, 50 institutions from countries including the USA, India, Switzerland, Ghana, and others were named. GTEC reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards in tertiary education in Ghana and protecting the integrity of qualifications awarded in the country.
