Grenada Football Association Commences 5-Day FIFA RAP Course

PR — The Grenada Football Association (GFA) today officially commenced a five-day FIFA Refereeing Assistance Programme (RAP) Course aimed at significantly enhancing the technical knowledge and physical readiness of the nation’s top officiating body. The rigorous training exercise, which runs until Sunday, November 2, is being held at the GFA Secretariat and features leading FIFA expertise. The RAP Course is designed to deliver comprehensive instruction on the latest amendments to the Laws of the Game, advanced positioning techniques, match management protocols, and psychological preparedness required for modern football officiating. Bringing world-class knowledge to the GFA officials are two highly respected FIFA experts: Mr. Javier Santos, FIFA Referee Development Officer: Leading the theoretical and technical sessions, focused on decision-making, interpretation of the Laws of the Game, and the application of modern officiating technology. Mr. Alan Brown, FIFA Fitness Instructor: Overseeing the physical components, ensuring referees meet the stringent physical demands and fitness standards required for international and regional competitions. The commencement of the FIFA RAP Course underscores the GFA’s commitment to investing in the human resources necessary to maintain the integrity and quality of football within Grenada. “The investment in our referees is an investment in the quality of our domestic leagues and the success of our officials on the regional stage,” said Carl Lee, General Secretary. “Having Mr. Santos and Mr. Brown on the ground allows our referees to benefit from the highest standards of FIFA instruction, ensuring they are fully aligned with the global evolution of the game, both technically and physically.” The course itinerary includes classroom sessions dealing with video analysis and complex match incidents, alongside intensive on-field practical drills focusing on endurance, speed, and fitness testing mandated by FIFA standards. Upon successful completion of the course, participants are expected to demonstrate a superior understanding of officiating requirements, readying them to take charge of GFA domestic league fixtures and preparing potential candidates for FIFA international referee panels.
