In a surprise move, Grasim Industries has announced that Rakshit Hargave, CEO, Birla Opus Paints, has resigned to pursue opportunities outside the company and he was relieved from his responsibilities on Wednesday. Hargave joined the company in November, 2021 and played a crucial role in the group’s venture into the highly competitive decorative paints business dominated by market leaders such as Asian Paints and Berger Paints. Moved out in 18 months He has moved out of the company in just 18 months after the official launch of the Birla Opus. Hargave’s successor will be announced in due course of time and in the interim, Himanshu Kapania, Managing Director of the company, will directly oversee the Paints business, said Grasim Industries. He has helped build a high-performing team and in this four year phase, established six integrated manufacturing facilities, scaled distribution and supply chain networks nationwide. These will form a strong foundation as the company grows its Paint brand and business ahead, it added. Hargave holds over two decades of experience across global consumer brands. He joined the Aditya Birla Group after heading Nivea’s business across Asia, Australia and New Zealand and serving as Managing Director of Nivea India.
