By Edwin N Khakie Monrovia, Liberia — The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah, has officially launched the National Agriculture Fair (NAF) 2025, signaling a renewed national commitment to agricultural transformation and food security in Liberia. Scheduled to take place from December 9–13, 2025, in Ganta, Nimba County, the five-day fair will be held under the inspiring theme, “Empowering Farmers, Enriching the Nation.” The event seeks to celebrate the resilience of Liberian farmers, promote local production, and strengthen national efforts toward self-sufficiency and sustainable agricultural growth. The NAF 2025 will bring together hundreds of farmers, agribusiness stakeholders, researchers, policymakers, and development partners from across the country. Key highlights of the fair include: Extension Conference for agricultural officers to enhance technical skills and coordination, Exhibitions showcasing Liberia’s best local produce, agro-technology, and innovation; Awards recognizing outstanding farmers, women-led cooperatives, and youth entrepreneurs; and Policy Dialogues aimed at shaping a new direction for agricultural development. President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., along with international development partners and local dignitaries, is expected to grace the opening ceremony, underscoring the fair’s national importance. In his statement at the launch, Minister Dr. Nuetah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to revitalizing Liberia’s agricultural landscape through innovation, partnerships, and capacity building. “When we empower farmers with the right tools and support, we empower the entire nation,” Dr. Nuetah declared. “Agriculture is the foundation of our economy, and the National Agriculture Fair is not just a celebration, it’s a call to action for all Liberians to invest in food production and rural prosperity.” The 2025 edition of the National Agriculture Fair marks a historic milestone in Liberia’s post-war agricultural modernization drive, aligning with President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda (Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism). As the nation prepares for this landmark event in Ganta, expectations are high that the fair will inspire renewed confidence in local production, create market linkages for farmers, and pave the way for sustainable food systems that reduce dependence on imports. With enthusiasm already building among farming communities, the National Agriculture Fair 2025 stands as a defining moment in Liberia’s journey toward agricultural transformation and national empowerment. -Edited by Othello B.
