Google’s next focus with Gemini AI is Maps and it has announced some new features for its users in India this week. AI is almost everywhere for the company so Maps was hardly going to miss out on the party, and now it gets its share of upgrades along with other useful features when you travel. The Gemini side of the update allows Maps users to ask contextual questions regarding their search on the platform and the AI will do the heavy lifting to give you the best response. Gemini AI For Maps And More Upgrades Coming To India Gemini is conversational and for Maps you get hands-free experience with easy response for very relevant and on point queries. For instance, you want to find a gas station near you, or find a restaurant that has a select palate and menu as per your preference. Google is also giving users the option to link Gemini with other apps to broaden its use behind the wheels. You can even have Gemini answer queries about a place with the AI model giving you details like reviews, photos or other important information. Gemini for Maps is coming to both Android and iOS devices soon. More Road-Focused Changes Beyond the AI shiny stuff, Maps is also getting some helpful tools that many will like when it releases. Google is working with the government to bring better data around accident prone areas and alert the users when they approach one in cities like Gurugram, Hyderabad and Chandigarh among others. Maps will also give you the official speed limit for a road based on the data from the local traffic police. This is initially coming for users in Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad. The company is promising better traffic alerts when there is a major disruption and India is the first region to get it on Android. You also get two-wheeler icons which lets you change the navigation arrow icon. Google also offers voice-based navigation across flyovers which is always an issue with the platform.
