The 78-year-old actress is known for her versatile performances in films, including 101 Dalmatians, Hillbilly Elegy, and Dangerous Liaisons. One of her most lauded performances, however, was in the 1987 psychological thriller, Fatal Attraction, which saw her star opposite Michael Douglas as an enraged lover who begins stalking a man and his family after he breaks up their affair. On an episode of The Kardashians, Glenn sat down with her All Stars co-stars to watch her iconic film. ‘I wanna tell you a couple of the little tidbits about it. Like how I got cast and all that kind of thing,’ she said before the film started. ‘Well, I was doing a play on Broadway and I had to let my understudy go on, which is a big deal, fly to LA. And my hair was long and wild and crazy. And I said, “What am I going to do with my hair?” And I finally said, “Oh f**k it, I’m just gonna go like that.” And I was so nervous I took a Valium.’ Unfortunately, as someone who wasn’t familiar with the drug, she thinks it may have been a little too strong for her. Glenn recalled the anecdote on a recent episode of The Kardashians (Picture: HULU) Glenn starred in the film as Alex Forrest (Picture: THA/Shutterstock) ‘I don’t take Valiums, so the fact that I took a Valium meant it was serious,’ she explained to the table of her Alls Fair costars, including Kim Kardashian. ‘So by the time I got to the parking lot, I was kind of…’ she trailed off while bobbing her head with a fixed smile and glazed-over eyes. What is Valium? Valium is a brand name for diazepam. Per the NHS, it’s used to treat anxiety, muscle spasms and seizures or fits. It’s also used in hospital to reduce alcohol withdrawal symptoms, such as sweating or difficulty sleeping. It can also be taken to help you relax before an operation or other medical or dental treatments. This is known as a pre-med. Diazepam is available in the UK by prescription only and Valium the brand is no longer available in the UK. Glenn revealed that she then ‘wanted to die’ after realising that Michael and director, Adrian Lyne had a video camera to tape the audition. She added that producers hadn’t bothered to show up ‘because they were so convinced I was wrong’ for the role, so the tape was to show them later. She admitted the audition process had been ‘traumatic’ and then added that she finds all auditions ‘horrible’. Despite the drugs, the audition went pretty darn well, with Glenn revealing that the director ‘went down the hall and said, “I think, I think it’s her”,’ to the producers. It also received 6 nominations at the Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress for Glenn – but sadly didn’t win any. Guardian TV critic Lucy Mangan, who gave the series a zero-star rating, described the series as being ‘fascinatingly, incomprehensibly, existentially terrible’. She wrote in her review: ‘I did not know it was still possible to make television this bad. I assumed that there was some sort of baseline, some inescapable bedrock knowledge of how to do it that now prevents any entry into the art form from falling below a certain standard. Written by American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy, the series follows a team of female divorce attorneys who open their own practice in L.A. Both Kim and her mother, Kris Jenner, are executive producers on the show, which is said to be inspired by celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who was Kim’s attorney for her divorces from Kanye West and Kris Humphries.
