GJA, FDA strengthen partnership to promote public health and safety in Ashanti Region

The Ashanti Regional Executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), led by Regional Chairman Mr. Kofi Adu Domfeh, have paid a familiarization visit to the Ashanti Regional Office of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), where they met with the Regional Head, Mr. Nathaniel Nana Kwabena Nkrumah, to discuss deeper collaboration in promoting public health and safety. During the engagement, Mr. Nkrumah expressed appreciation to the GJA for its continuous support to the Authority and its leadership under Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Manso Opuni, the FDA Chief Executive Officer. “The media plays a vital role in safeguarding public health by helping us reach the public with accurate information,” Mr. Nkrumah noted. “We are truly grateful for the GJA’s partnership and look forward to intensifying our collaborative efforts to ensure the health and safety of every Ghanaian.” He emphasized his commitment to strengthening the existing relationship between the FDA and the media fraternity, describing it as essential to the Authority’s mission of protecting consumers from unsafe products. On his part, Mr. Kofi Adu Domfeh, the Regional GJA Chairman, reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to supporting the FDA’s public education campaigns. “The GJA in the Ashanti Region will continue to cooperate with the FDA to sensitize the public on its mandate,” Mr. Domfeh assured. “We believe that together, we can better inform the public and contribute to achieving the Authority’s goals.” He also extended an invitation to Mr. Nkrumah and his team to attend the upcoming GJA 2025 Awards in the Ashanti Region, which aims to celebrate excellence in journalism and promote strong institutional partnerships. The meeting concluded with both parties expressing optimism about future collaborations to strengthen public awareness and regulatory compliance in the region.
