The New York Giants were devastated on Sunday with the loss of rising star running back Cam Skattebo. In their 38-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Skattebo went down with a season-ending ankle injury. Right now, the Giants are in a difficult position, needing to find ways to replace the production of their rookie, who was a massive spark for the offense. Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary will need to step up in that regard. But one contribution that will be much harder to replace is the energy Skattebo supplied. According to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, it's on everyone on the team to step up. "Other guys just have to pick it up," Dart told the media, "That's just the name of it, and it'll be a little different without him out there just yelling and whatnot. But we got some good guys in the building to pick up." Tyrone Tracy on filling in for Cam Skattebo Last season, Tracy was an unexpected boost to the Giants' lifeless offense. He finished with 839 rushing yards, 284 receiving yards, and six total touchdowns. It was assumed this season he would pick up where he left off, but a shoulder injury derailed him. When he returned, it was after Skattebo took full advantage of his new opportunity, and Tracy was relegated to RB2. Additionally, Skattebo was emerging as a team leader. When Tracy was asked today how he can replace Skattebo's energy, he said that's not how he's approaching the situation. "I'm not going to try to be anyone else but Tyrone Tracy Jr. That's because that's all I can be on the football field," Tracy told reporters, "I'm not going to try to really bring any extra energy, I'm just going to go out there and do what I can to put my team in the best situation possible. Whether it's running, catching the ball in the backfield, or blocking. Or really just being a cheerleader on the sideline when the defense is up or whatever. Whatever I’ve got to do to put my team in a great situation, I'm going to do that." Tracy is not the same player as Skattebo by any means. He's a more fluid, finesse-based player who kills opponents with his elusiveness and his vision. However, hopefully, he can provide a similar spark to the one he gave in 2024.Tracy also weighed in on whether he feels the team has enough weapons to fill in for Skattebo. "We’ve definitely got enough," Tracy stated, "I think it's always next man up mentality, whether it's QB, receiver, running back, DB, whatever it may be. It's always next man up mentality. Whoever we have in this locker room, and if we put you out there on the field, we definitely have faith that you and your abilities is enough for us to go out there and get a W." The Giants will need to have an all-hands-on-deck approach if they want to win any of their remaining games. If they can't find production from unlikely sources, it could be a rough finish to the year.
