CHICAGO — Four years ago, in a dimly lit room in the bowels of Soldier Field, following a hideous, lifeless 29-3 Giants loss to the Bears, the end unofficially arrived for their head coach at the time, Joe Judge. Officially, Judge was fired nine days later. But the final seeds to his demise were planted in a rambling and defiant 11-minute rant that was equal parts blaming everyone but himself and delivering a public plea to team ownership to save his job. Judge blamed the poor culture he inherited from his predecessor, Pat Shurmur, and his general manager, Dave Gettleman, for not bringing in enough talent. In part of his unhinged diatribe as he tried to make a case for remaining the coach, Judge said, “This ain’t a team that’s having fistfights on the sidelines. This ain’t some clown show organization.”
