A High Fantasy Series

Apple TV is putting up a pretty remarkable fight in the streaming wars, and there's only one thing left that would fully tip the scales. While Netflix has long held the top spot in terms of viewership, other streaming platforms have proven that they take the cake in terms of quality. HBO is a prime example, with TV shows where every episode feels like a full-budget film. In the last handful of years, Apple TV has made a similar name for itself as HBO. This platform's TV shows are of excellent quality, and Apple has officially stood out as the final word in the sci-fi genre. Severance, Foundation, Silo, and now Pluribus are among the best TV shows out right now, and they're certainly making Apple TV look good. With all that Apple TV has achieved in the streaming wars in a relatively short time, I'd be intrigued to see what more the company can do outside the sci-fi genre. Sure, there are a fair number of good drama and comedy TV shows already streaming. However, Apple TV has yet to really venture into the realms of high fantasy. Apple TV Has What It Takes To Make An Excellent High Fantasy Series HBO really kicked the door down with Game of Thrones. From the moment the high fantasy series gained traction, other production companies and streamers began releasing their own efforts. Netflix has a wide offering in this regard, the most promising of which was The Witcher. However, it hasn't managed the same sort of spectacle as Game of Thrones. Prime Video has officially produced the most expensive fantasy TV show of all time with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which Amazon no doubt hoped would be pop culture's next Game of Thrones. Unfortunately, this attempt too has fallen flat in comparison. Apple TV has yet to really give high fantasy the old college try. However, after shows like Severance, it's pretty evident that this company would have the best shot at success in this genre. While other fantasy series have come across as cheesy, Apple TV's more grounded and high-value productions would likely be more in line with HBO. Why Apple TV Hasn't Ventured Into The Realm Of High Fantasy As previously mentioned, Game of Thrones inspired a massive wave of new fantasy TV offerings. While Apple TV has dipped its toes in with some TV shows with fantasy elements, it hasn't made an attempt at the more specific high fantasy genre that Game of Thrones popularized. Given the failures of other streamers, this was likely smart.
