The Las Vegas Raiders return from their bye week with a familiar target for quarterback Geno Smith. Veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett, who spent time with the Seattle Seahawks alongside Smith, officially joined the team on October 27. Lockett began the 2025 NFL season with the Tennessee Titans but requested and was granted his release on October 20. During his 168 games with Seattle, Lockett recorded 661 receptions for 8,594 yards and 61 touchdowns. However, his brief stint with the Titans produced just 10 catches for 70 yards and no touchdowns in seven games. On October 29, Smith told reporters he’s excited about reuniting with Lockett and having an offensive weapon with whom he already has a strong connection. “Yeah, it’s a good feeling to have a close friend of mine right next to me, especially when things aren’t going great,” Smith said. “We didn’t start off like we’d like to. But Tyler’s a guy who understands me and knows how to get me going; he’s a great locker room guy, a great leader. “He’s going to provide a ton of information for the wideouts, especially for our young guys who are still developing and learning. He’s also still got juice—he can still play—so there’s a lot he brings to the table. But aside from him just being a good friend and having my buddy back in the locker room, it’s pretty cool.” Pete Carroll Talks Reuniting With Tyler Lockett With Lockett now part of the Raiders, head coach Pete Carroll commented on his potential impact. “High hopes for him and high hopes for us that we can make a good connection here,” Carroll said on the latest episode of “1 on 1.” “It’s a lot to ask a guy to jump in and be a regular player in a week’s time, but he’s going for it and we’ll see what happens by the end of the week. He’s in here over the weekend as soon as he found out that he was going to be a Raider. “He’s a marvelous football player and a tremendous person; he’s one of the real natural ball players—he’s got great sense and feel and has always demonstrated that. Geno knows him really well. They’ve played together for quite some time, and there’s a chemistry between them that maybe can give us a little edge that we haven’t had with the younger guys who have been playing. “We’ll see what happens and hold out good hopes for this to help us. I’m really excited for Tyler to be with us again, in a place where people love him, know who he is and what he’s all about, and hopefully our fans will be able to see that.” Tyler Lockett Discusses Joining the Raiders After signing with the Raiders, Tyler Lockett addressed reporters on October 27, discussing why he decided to join the Silver and Black. “I think it was just conversations with my agent, and, obviously, once I was able to get released and the time went by on waivers, I was able to kind of talk to [Raiders head coach Pete Carroll], and I think it was pretty cool just to have a chance to come back, “ Lockett told reporters. “I played with Pete for nine years, so I understand his system, I understand what he’s trying to bring to the culture, and I’m just thankful that I got another chance to be able to play for him.”
