Quirónsalud Torrevieja Marks 25 Years of Excellence and Announces Major Expansion Plans

Quirónsalud Torrevieja Hospital celebrated its 25th anniversary in a vibrant gala at the Torrevieja International Auditorium, bringing together more than 500 guests, including healthcare professionals, patients, authorities, and community leaders. The evening was filled with pride, emotion, and a renewed commitment to the future. During the ceremony, Francisco Fiestras, Regional Director of Quirónsalud Levante and the Canary Islands, announced the hospital’s ambitious new Master Plan. The initiative includes the expansion of the ICU, operating theatres, outpatient clinics, and critical care units, as well as the construction of a new Emergency Department and a therapeutic procedures unit. These upgrades are expected to be completed by 2027. “Reaching this milestone hasn’t been easy,” said Fiestras. “Thanks to your dedication, we have built a hospital recognized internationally for excellence. Our resilience and commitment to advancing medical care define who we are.” Over the past 25 years, the hospital has treated more than 500,000 patients. Fiestras highlighted the importance of caring for healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the best possible care. The gala paid heartfelt tribute to staff with 25 years of service, retirees, and those who have left a lasting legacy. A touching moment honored the memory of deceased colleagues. Patients and partnering organizations, including AFECÁNCER, AFA Torrevieja, and the Norwegian and Swedish Churches of the Costa Blanca, were also recognized for their continued support. One of the most emotional highlights was the standing ovation for Dr. Antonio Brugarolas, Head of Medical Oncology, who reminded the audience that “our true distinction lies not in technology, but in how we accompany people.” The evening combined science, community, and culture, featuring performances by the Torrevieja Symphony Orchestra and the Paya’s Dance School, along with the launch of the hospital’s new podcast series, Historias Clínicas. Nine patients were also honoured for their participation in the ALTAS photography exhibition. Regional Health Secretary Francisco Ponce praised the hospital’s innovation and public-private collaboration, while Torrevieja Mayor Eduardo Dolón closed the event by emphasizing the city’s pride in a hospital “committed to excellence and to people.”
