Duty Station: Sarajevo Contract Type: National Consultant (on-call) PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION The purpose of this position is to provide flexible, additional, on-call support to the Logistics Section during periods of planned and unforeseen absences of contracted staff and increased workload in daily operations or on special occasions/events. Due to limited staffing and the inability to secure individual replacements for each role, the position is designed to ensure operational continuity by covering a range of technical, physical, and administrative tasks as needed. The scope of work includes assisting in various logistics functions (e.g. daily hygiene and maintenance, seasonal and ad-hoc tasks, transport and delivery, etc.) to maintain uninterrupted internal services and operational efficiency. This position does not guarantee fixed working hours and operates on a flexible, as-needed basis. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The General Support Assistant may be called upon to perform tasks in the following areas: Technical and Physical Support Occasionally, additional support is required in performing the following tasks: Handyman duties that include minor repairs of office equipment, furniture and fixtures, as well as regular inspection of building installations and systems; Setting up rooms for meetings and events; Moving goods, furniture and equipment within the building, loading and unloading; Replenishing consumables (water, copier paper, etc.). Hygiene Maintenance Support Additional support is required to assist the cleaning team in maintaining hygiene throughout the building, including offices, hallways, staircases, restrooms, and shared areas. Team members work in shifts to ensure continuous cleanliness during working hours and special events and daily hygiene maintenance includes Cleaning (vacuuming, mopping, dusting) offices, meeting rooms, hallways, staircases, and sanitary facilities; Cleaning of office furniture and equipment; Maintaining cleanliness of kitchenettes and common areas; Refilling cleaning supplies and restroom consumables; Assisting in the catering set up for meetings and special events. Seasonal and Ad-Hoc Duties These duties arise depending on weather conditions, specific logistical needs, or planned internal changes. The aim is to ensure the safe, functional, and orderly environment of the building and its surroundings throughout the year. Typical duties include the following: Snow removal and salting during winter – ensuring safe access to the building for staff and visitors during snow or icy conditions Gardening support – watering plants, cutting grass, trimming bushes, and maintaining the outdoor area around the building Assistance during office relocations or space reorganizations – moving furniture and equipment, clearing or preparing spaces as needed Archival and Documentation Support Assisting in handling, labelling, and relocating archival material, manipulating archive boxes Transport and Delivery Support may also be required in transport and delivery, to ensures continuity in internal logistics and smooth functioning of daily operations and it may include the following. Driving staff or transporting goods – providing transportation support when a driver is unavailable, including occasional runs to external locations Collecting and delivering mail and supplies – picking up or dropping off official mail, office materials, or other necessary items between departments or external institutions Other Duties as Needed Depending on ongoing activities and operational needs, occasional support may be required for the preparation and execution of various internal or external events and the typical duties in this area include: Supporting internal events – setting up tables, chairs, technical equipment, and other logistical elements Assisting with events in which OHR participates – providing on-site support for transport, setup, or material handling Preparing spaces for VIP guests or delegations – ensuring that meeting rooms and common areas are clean, organized, and properly equipped prior to high-level visits PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS Secondary school Valid B-category driver’s license Basic technical skills Operational/logistical work experience Basic knowledge of English language; Previous experience with an international organization preferred. Excellent physical condition and stamina Ability to work efficiently with other team-members, flexibility and readiness to help others Capable to work in an environment that requires confidentiality and discretion. Ability to work under pressure and flexible working hours, including weekends when necessary. Ability to adapt to different roles and switch between technical and administrative tasks.
