The G20 Health Ministers meeting is underway in Polokwane, Limpopo. Health Ministers from G20 countries are discussing global health issues and solutions through universal healthcare collaborations. Some of the issues that are being discussed include ensuring that citizens live in a TB-free world. Other health challenges being discussed are antiretroviral therapy for TB-HIV co-infection and malaria as public health threats. The G20 Health Ministers will also discuss the progress towards ending AIDS through Lenacapavir, a twice-yearly injection that has shown exceptional effectiveness in preventing HIV, offering HIV prevention for people who lack access to taking daily oral pre-exposure prophylaxis, PrEP, pills. The meeting will ensure partnership with low and middle-income countries through multilateral grant financing mechanisms such as the Global Fund. Today we are welcoming all our G20 health ministers to the only province of South Africa with the rainy Queen Masalanabo Modjadji the seventh, hence over the past two days,we have been blessed with good rain.
