Former 'The View' Co-Host Lisa Ling Cut From CBS News Amid Major Paramount Layoffs

Lisa Ling is one of the CBS News personalities that have been cut from the network amid the massive layoffs at Paramount following its acquisitionn by Skydance. The former The View co-host took to social media to share the news that she was laid off although she said some of her reports will appear “in the coming weeks.” “So yesterday, I got a call from CBS that I was among the massive layoffs at the network,” Ling said in a video post on Instagram. “Now this didn’t entirely surprise me, because I wasn’t a full-time employee, but rather a contributor, and we’re easy to cut.” She continued, My heart, though, goes out to all of those who had been working at the network for many, many years.” Ling noted that she “worked with some wonderful people at CBS” and was “proud” of the series she did for the network about caregiving, psychedelic healing and the state of spirituality. “I wanted to let you know that I am developing a platform that will go into even greater depth on a whole range of issues related to intergenerational strenght and healing,” she added. On Wednesday, CBS News gave notice to almost 100 staffers that they were being let go, part of Paramount-wide cuts being implemented following its acquisition by Skydance. The network eliminated its Race & Culture Unit, canceled the streaming shows CBS Mornings Plus and CBS Evening News Plus, and announced an overhaul of CBS Saturday Morning that will see its two hosts, Michelle Miller and Dana Jacobson, depart. Also laid off was senior foreign correspondent Debora Patta, who has been reporting on the war in Gaza, has been based in Johannesburg, as well as correspondents Nikki Battiste and Janet Shamlian. A second wave of cuts is expected early next year. Ling joined CBS News in 2023 as a contributor after her time on CNN hosting and producing This Is Life with Lisa Ling.
