A food product sold in Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Ocado ‘should not be eaten’ because of mislabelling. THIS has announced a major recall of THIS Isn’t Chicken Deli Pieces because the product contains soya and wheat (gluten) which are not declared on the label. The UK Food Standards Agency this afternoon put out an alert saying: “This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten or with coeliac disease.” The product is available in supermarkets including Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Ocado, and officials say notices will be placed in stores where the food is sold. The FSA said the product contains undeclared soya and wheat (gluten) making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten or with coeliac disease. THIS said: “We have initialted a precautionary recall of all our This isn’t Chicken Deli Pieces due to a mislabelling issue. During production a batch of This isn’t Chicken Deli Pieces was incorrectly packed with base labels intended for This isn’t Cocktail Sausages. This isn’t chicken deli pieces contain wheat (gluten) and soya which are not present in the cocktail sausages and therefore not declared on teh label. Our safety of our customers is our top priority.” THIS™ Isn’t Chicken Deli Pieces The FSA said: "THIS is recalling the above product and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product." The advice to consumers from the FSA is: "If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to soya and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten or with coeliac disease, do not eat it.
