Five generations of family still going

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - The number five seems to be pretty special for one Eau claire family, the Gruen’s, showing off five generations of family members. Third generation family member, Gary Gruen said "I was personally fortunate enough to have a great-great grandfather until I was 20-years-old, so I knew him very well." His daughter, Samantha Cieslak who’s a second generation family member said it means a lot to be part of such a big family. “So for me to have my children and have them experience so many grandparents in their lives, I think is just really special. It means a lot to me that my great-grandmas are getting to know my babies,” she said. Married in or not, five generations was seen on many sides of the family. Becky Gruen said “I had six brothers and sisters, and my mom and dad all my life and my grandparents and my great-grandparents.” Her mom, Jane Moss said “I’m just the most fortunate lady in the whole wide world probably.” There may even be a family secret to keeping the five generations tradition still going for the third time. “We got our own milk, we got our own, everything is grown you know that’s all I can say. We grew it or, you know we bought very little,” Moss said. Good old fashioned Wisconsin farm life keeping the family planted since the late 1800’s. Leading to today, Becky Gruen said "I look at these babies, and I think boy I’ve gotta stay pretty healthy. If we’re going to have another five generations, I have to live a minimum of 20 years." Which doesn’t seem too hard with great-great grandparents able to bond with the little ones. Jane Moss said “I just thank the Lord everyday that he let me live long enough to see it, and I keep asking him for some more.” Judging by what it looks like, it might be safe to say the Gruen bloodline is here to stay. Samantha Cieslak said "I definitely hope that our family is blessed with health and we can continue to have five generations moving forward." Looking to keep the lucky number five alive.
