The middle-tier gym chain will bring top-of-the-line gym equipment, as well as a juice bar and sauna to the neighborhood. HARLEM, NY — Fitness Factory, a small gym chain from New Jersey, is expanding into New York City for the first time, and is opening its first location in Harlem on West 125th Street next month. Located at 362 W. 125th St., the new gym will feature luxury amenities, including top-of-the-line machines, a sauna and juice bar, all at affordable membership options, Fitness Factory's Marketing Director, Ryan Villanueva, told Patch. The gym will open sometime in early November, though the exact date is still up in the air, Villanueva said. Once the gym sets an opening date, it will announce it on its Instagram page, Villanueva said. "We’re trying to be that middle tier gym for everybody, offering luxury, state-of-the-art equipment, but at an affordable price," Villanueva said. Part of why Fitness Factory is expanding to Harlem first, Villanueva said, is because the area has a high demand for gym space, given all the nearby colleges. "Other gyms have a lot of overcrowding, so they could really use another gym," Villanueva said. The gym's goal is to build a welcoming community, and it is hiring local staff, including trainers and front-desk personnel, with this in mind, Villanueva said. "Even with 3,000 members, we make sure people are known by their first names," Villanueva said. Membership pre-sales are underway, and start at $49.99 per month.
