Fisher Stevens becomes latest celebrity to flee Trump's America for 'nicer' life in UK

Fisher Stevens has followed in the footsteps of Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O'Donnell as the latest celeb to flee the US amid President Trump's second term. The 61-year-old Oscar winner has revealed that he moved his family out of America and two London in the last two months. 'I moved my family to London about eight weeks ago. We have a 12 and 9 year old, and my wife and I decided it was time to get out of the U.S. for a minute, see what it's like in Europe and the UK,' he told People magazine. He was joined by his actress wife since 2017, Alexis Bloom, and their two children. Stevens gushed about his new life as he said: 'It's pretty nice! My wife and I make documentaries, so there are a couple things we're working out on there, and my wife's parents live in London too, so that's been good.' He was asked by the publication if the current political state in the US had played a part in the move and did not explicitly say but did indicate that he is not a fan of the current administration's policies on the environment. Stevens explained to People: 'I did this movie with Leonardo DiCaprio Before the Flood, and we interviewed these major corporations in the Amazon, like Cargill, who promised to farm more sustainably, and things have not gotten any better. It's now 10 years later.' He is also producer of Netflix documentary on the Amazon rainforest titled We Are Guardians. Of the project, Stevens explained: It's more important than ever to keep shining a light on these stories. 'Knowing that the Trump administration is very heavily funded by the fossil fuels... 'I mean, the Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright is a former oil executive who refuses to [make change]. He says, "Oh yeah, the climate is changing..." But this administration is doing everything it can to not be responsible citizens for the world.' Last year, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi revealed that they had moved to the English countryside after Trump was elected president. Then in March of this year, Rosie O'Donnell confirmed that she had left the US for Ireland. After the move she revealed the reasoning behind the move as she said: 'It's been heartbreaking to see what's happening politically and hard for me personally as well.' The actor, who rose to fame in the '80s in films like Short Circuit. He was also in the spotlight around the time as he famously dated actress Michelle Pfeiffer from 1989 to 1992. One of Stevens' most iconic roles in recent years was portraying Hugo Baker in award winning HBO show Succession. However, fans were shocked to find two years ago that he was the acclaimed director of documentaries like Netflix's Beckham series. Fisher is a well established documentary maker. He won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for The Cove (2010). He also directed the documentaries Crazy Love (2007), and Before the Flood (2016). In the BECKHAM series, David and Victoria speak with remarkable openness about personal topics in their lives, including David's struggles with his mental health after he became public enemy number one following his sending off against Argentina in the World Cup. The footballer revealed his rows with Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson, including the moment he had to be 'held back' by teammates during the infamous bust-up where the Scot kicked a boot at him, as well as his meteoric rise within the sport. The documentary also touches on David's alleged affair with Rebecca Loos, with former Spice Girl Victoria breaking down in tears as she speaks about it on camera for the first time and admits it was the 'hardest' time of her life. The couple talk about parenthood and the difficulty of raising their children in the public gaze, including how they received 'kidnapping threats' after the birth of their eldest child, Brooklyn, as well as the disagreements they have had within their marriage. Viewers were also shown behind the scenes footage from their infamous wedding, in which they donned garish purple clothes during a lavish ceremony, while it also addressed their fashion choices including 'sarong-gate' and their appearance on the cover of Vogue magazine.
