Cliff Anderson Sports Hall still falls short of international standards ahead of FIBA tournament Despite more than G$327 million being pumped into renovations at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) over the last two years, it has been found that the facility still falls short of international standards, with key elements yet to be completed and no firm timelines announced for outstanding works. This comes mere weeks before Guyana is set to host the FIBA Women’s Caribbean Championship, scheduled for November 12–16 at the venue. A recent inspection by a FIBA official uncovered several deficiencies at the facility, which was once publicly described by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr. as “world-class” following its reopening in December 2024. According to a senior official of the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF), who spoke to Stabroek Sports on condition of anonymity, the inspection highlighted a number of technical shortcomings that must be corrected if the tournament is to meet FIBA’s hosting standards.
