Fans Give Jelly Roll a New Nickname After His 200-Pound Weight Loss

After several years on his weight loss journey, Jelly Roll has wowed fans with his incredible progress, and even earned himself a new nickname. The country singer, who has lost nearly 200 pounds, has gone through a complete transformation that hasn’t gone unnoticed by his loyal followers. Recently, Jelly Roll, 40, shared a video on his TikTok account, joining a popular trend where someone asks “Where’s the person?” and the video reveals them doing something unexpected. Staying true to his signature style, the video opens with his recognizable outfit, featuring HeyDude shoes, a gold chain, a Tennessee Titans hat and a vest with a Bunnie patch over the heart. But Jelly Roll himself is nowhere to be seen — until the clip cuts to him dancing on stage, showing fans exactly where he’s been. In the caption, Jelly Roll shared that his fans have given him a new nickname. “They’re calling me Veggie Roll y’all.” Fans flooded the comments with support for his transformation and newfound energy. One wrote, “Veggie Roll is a cute name but it will always be Jelly Roll,” while another shared, “You can generally see how happy you are being able to do what you haven’t been able to do! I’m really proud of you jelly roll.” Others noticed his radiant glow, with fans cheering, “JAY THAT GLOW! We’re so here for it! Love to see you happy and doing the things you wanna while you’re on the road!” Another fan added, “Looks like you’re owning that Veggie Roll nickname! Great vibe, keep doing you!” Jelly Roll has been open about his weight struggles for years. At one point, he reportedly weighed 550 pounds, and in 2022, he began a journey toward better health. In a Music Mayhem interview, he shared that his goal for 2023 was to finally “conquer the demon” of his weight. He also shared on “The Bobby Bones Show” that the nickname Jelly Roll came from his mother, who called him that as a “chubby kid.” “I’ve been fat my whole life,” he said. “She started calling me Jelly Roll when I was young, and I spent the next 20 years trying to grow into the name.” On “Dumb Blonde,” hosted by his wife Bunnie Xo, Jelly Roll shared why he chose to lose weight “naturally.” Although he was aware of Ozempic, a popular weight-loss injection, he opted not to use it because of the risk of acid reflux. According to the singer, the potential side effect could have affected his career. “Every doctor I’ve talked to is for it,” Jelly said. “They said it helps. I just was afraid of it … As a singer, few things scare me more than acid reflux. Like, you’ll watch me get up out of a bed, I’ll burp and wake up panicked and go take something for it. You know? Because that stuff will just rip the vocal cords.” With his transformation well underway, Jelly Roll has set a new goal, to be on the cover of Men’s Health by March 2026. “That’s my new goal. I wanna have one of the biggest transformations,” he shared.
