Extraordinary views see Asian hotel clinch top spot in World's 50 Best Hotels 2025

Listen up — the bona fide travel experts of the world have spoken, and have compiled a list of the World's 50 Best Hotels 2025. The wonders of the world have been around for thousands of years. You can now jet back and forth to Paris, the city of love, at the drop of a hat. The destination is no longer the be-all and end-all of a great holiday. Rather, an emphasis has been put on living our best lives in the height of luxury, the ultimate getaway, if you will. And for that, 50 Best has shared its elite knowledge. A more than 800-person-strong Academy of hoteliers, travel journalists, educators, and seasoned luxury travellers put their heads together and came up with this list, so it's certainly one to be trusted. To ensure ultimate fairness, the Academy Chairs are split across 13 geographical regions, and each selects a voting panel from their region. Each Academy member could vote for any hotel they've stayed in around the world, and each voter casts seven votes. This 50-strong list of the very best of the best hotels in the world in 2025 spans six continents. So, without further ado, drumroll please... Clinching the top spot for 2025 is Rosewood Hong Kong. The photographs speak for themselves, but a descriptor of the hotel reads: 'Soaring over Victoria Harbour, Rosewood Hong Kong is a new centre of gravity on the Kowloon waterfront; the crown jewel of the Victoria Dockside arts and design district. 'On passing the gate and traversing the cobblestoned drive, the urban din falls away, revealing lush topiary and a serene forecourt that commands the harbour. A warm welcome heralds a stay of unparalleled comfort and distinctive hospitality at the Hong Kong luxury hotel.' Sounds like heaven! Two more hotels in Asia round off the podium this year, with Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River taking silver, and Capella Bangkok (which claimed the #1 spot in 2024) taking bronze. Four other Asian hotels make the list's top ten, while establishments in Italy and Mexico round it off. It appears Asia is doing it best in the hotel market, claiming 20 of the 50 spots on offer. The continent is swiftly followed by Europe (17), North America (6), Africa (3), Oceania (2), and South America (2). The 2025 iteration features 20 new entries, spanning six continents. Not only was a general list compiled, but 50 Best has given additional accolades, Special Awards, to the best in the business. The Best Boutique Hotel Award goes to Passalacqua (#4) in Lake Como for the second year in a row. The photos literally took our breath away! And no surprises here, the hottest spot north of Havana has done it again... Copacabana Palace (#11) in Rio de Janeiro was awarded the Lavazza Highest New Entry Award. Desa Potato Head (#18) in Bali has won the Eco Hotel Award, and Atlantis The Royal (#6) was given The Lost Explorer Best Beach Hotel Award. Elsewhere, Royal Mansour (#13) in Marrakech was named the winner of the WhistlePig Highest Climber Award. We could very much see ourselves planning our next excursion around the accommodation rather than the destination in the near future!
