There were workmen and members of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) across the main sports hall at WV Active Aldersley as they worked to create the arena in which 32 of the best players in the world will compete to win the Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts. The tournament has been a regular fixture in Wolverhampton since 2007 at the Civic Hall and since 2018 at Aldersley and has become a popular part of the PDC calendar, with big names such as Phil Taylor, Raymond van Barneveld, Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price having won the Grand Slam. Current World Champion Luke Littler is the defending champion, having won the Eric Bristow trophy with a 16-3 win over Martin Lukeman, and will be among the field of contenders when the Grand Slam starts on Saturday. Ahead of the tournament, the work was going in to get the arena ready, with tables being put up on the floor and cameras being set up on the stage, as well as the dart board being correctly adjusted and the players entrance having a new ramp installed. We've picked out 12 photos which show the hard work that goes into making the Grand Slam a grand event each year
