Estate agent advertised Welsh home as having great links, but there's one massive problem

A house for sale on the outskirts of Cardiff is being marketed as having fantastic access to the city centre - via a railway station that has been closed for more than 60 years. New Home Agents, based in Leeds, describe the home in St Fagans as being "exceptionally well-connected: its railway station provides direct services to Cardiff Central.” But the last passenger service from St Fagans left in 1962 , and the station building has long been demolished. In reality, the nearest railway station to the home at Trem Y Coed is Waun-gron Park, which is a 50-minute walk away. The advert describes St Fagans as a "highly desirable and picturesque village in the west of Cardiff" with "superb access to the city centre." Never miss a Cardiff story by signing up to our daily newsletter here "St. Fagans is highly attractive to families and professionals seeking an aspirational village lifestyle with all the conveniences of a capital city nearby," the description adds. Neighbour Grant Finlay, 62, said he believes that the estate agent’s copy was written by AI. "We would all love for there to be train services from a station at St Fagans," he said. "It would be great for the Museum of Welsh Life, too. But although the railway line is still there, services just thunder through. It’s hard to imagine why anyone who’d ever been to the area would think that trains stop here. "It’s fake news!" New Home Agents, which is based in Leeds, says it has a "track record of selling in excess of 4000+ properties". "It seems to be saving on costs on writing accurate descriptions about at least one property it’s selling, too!" commented the neighbour. The three-bedroom detached home, found in a "popular location close to numerous local amenities including shops, schools and transport links", according to the advert, is on the market for £380,000. New Home Agents did not respond to a request for comment, but after WalesOnline contacted the company, the advert for the home on Rightmove changed to remove any reference to St Fagans railway station. Instead the description was amended to say: "Superb road links via the A4232 ensure a swift route to the M4 motorway (Junction 33) and Waun-gron Park Railway Station only 16 minutes away via car."
