Erling Haaland helps Manchester City go 2nd in Premier League

Erling Haaland's double strike propelled Manchester City to a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth on Matchday 10 of the Premier League 2025-26 season on Sunday. The win saw Man City get to second place on the table, just six points behind league leaders Arsenal. Tyler Adams had briefly leveled for Bournemouth after Gianluigi Donnarumma's error, but Nico O'Reilly sealed City's win with a second-half goal. Haaland's two first-half goals took his tally to 13 in 10 games this season, just two away from his 100th league goal. The striker celebrated his first goal with a robot dance but was subbed off in the final minutes of the match. There were probably a few Fantasy [Premier League] managers that were not so happy when I got subbed off! Haaland told Sky Sports. The win over Bournemouth was Man City's fourth in five league matches. The match started on a high note for City as Eli Junior Kroupi's early warning shot from an offside position was ruled out within the first minute. Haaland capitalized on Bournemouth's high defensive line, breaking through twice to score his goals and nearly getting a hat-trick. Despite Bournemouth's equalizer through Adams, Haaland quickly restored City's lead. The striker was denied a hat-trick by goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic after another breakaway chance. Bournemouth started the second half strong with Kroupi hitting the side netting and being denied by Donnarumma soon after. However, O'Reilly sealed the win for City with a precise shot into the bottom right corner from left-back position. Hosts City had 48% ball possession compared to Bournemouth's 52. Pep Guardiola's side managed 15 attempts with 8 shots on target. The Cherries had 5 shots on target from 8 attempts. City created 4 big chances and had 43 touches in the opposition box. In terms of the points table, Guardiola's men own 19 points from 10 games, picking up their 6th win. The Cherries are 4th with 18 points. This was their 2nd defeat of the season. In 107 Premier League games, Haaland has raced to a tally of 98 goals. He also owns 17 assists. In the ongoing season, he has bagged 13 goals and an assist from 10 matches. Overall, he has scored 141 goals for City in 159 matches.
