Emmy-Winning Comedy Show Gets Its 14th Remake In Just 10 Years

Call My Agent! is getting another remake. The International Emmy Award-winning French dramedy series, which is set at a talent agency and features cameos from notable actors playing themselves, originally ran for four seasons from 2015 through 2020 and has a movie currently in development. Notable Call My Agent! guest stars have included Juliette Binoche, Christopher Lambert, Isabelle Huppert, Isabelle Adjani, Monica Bellucci, Sigourney Weaver, and Jean Reno. Per Variety, during a presentation at Taiwan Creative Content Fest, Organic Media Group revealed that they are developing a Chinese-language adaptation of Call My Agent!. While the show will primarily focus on the Taiwanese entertainment industry, their goal is to appeal to a broader Chinese-language market. It will also be distributed in the United States via Golden TV. Per Steve Chicorel, who is the co-founder and CEO of Organic Media Group, this includes "inviting superstars from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Asian-Americans, and yes, even China to join the cast." The project, which is still looking for funding, has producer Natacha Devillers (Hector and the Search for Happiness, Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom) attached, alongside writer Yang Jingxiang and director Wu Zhongtian (A Murderous Affair in Horizon Tower). This announcement marks at least the 14th time that an international remake of the beloved comedy series has been circled by producers. In addition to a Latin America-set adaptation that was announced to be in the works with producer Eva Longoria in 2023, the Filipino adaptation Call My Manager has also been announced, as have versions from the Middle East and Malaysia. As of October 27, Eva Longoria is also in talks to appear in the Call My Agent! movie. Call My Agent! has already been adapted in many other territories, including Britain (as Ten Percent), South Korea (Behind Every Star), Türkiye (Menajerimi Ara), India (Call My Agent: Bollywood), Italy (Call My Agent - Italia), Germany (Call My Agent Berlin), Indonesia (Hubungi Agen Gue!), Poland (Mój agent), and the Czech Republic and Slovakia (Vytoč mého agenta). Ultimately, it makes sense why this new version of the series would be targeting Chinese markets across the globe rather than singling out the Taiwanese market. The Chinese-language market has become increasingly mighty in the entertainment space. This year has seen the market come even more to the fore with the success of 2025's Ne Zha 2, a Mandarin-language animated movie that is currently the highest-grossing movie of the year. In addition to grossing $2.2 billion worldwide, its stellar performance marks the first time that any movie in history has grossed more than $1 billion in a single territory (in this case, China).
