Elliott Wright's touching reason for selling iconic Spanish restaurant and moving to UK

Former TOWIE star Elliott Wright has confirmed he is selling his beloved Spanish restaurant, Olivia's La Cala. The reality TV star, 45, took to Instagram with a heartfelt video explaining that he and wife Sadie Stuart Wright have made the “tough decision” to sell the famous venue after nearly a decade in business. “In 2015 I set out to build something that everyone told me shouldn't be built in La Cala de Mijas, a big gamble,” Elliott wrote in his caption. “It's been emotional, brilliant, fun, hard, testing, stressful but mainly amazing! I've loved every minute of it but, yes, it's true — I am selling Olivia's. Life's about chapters, and the last 10 years have been amazing.” He continued: “Sadie and I have spoken about it for a long time and now the time feels right. Olivia's I hope will have new owners for next season. This will be our last festive season. Thank you to everyone that's enjoyed and laughed in there in the last 10 years.” In the accompanying video, Elliott explained that the decision comes down to family priorities and his children's future. “I've got three beautiful children with Sadie and two older ones, and I always assumed their dreams would align with mine,” he said. “But that's not the case. My son Elliott has been working in the City for three years, and Olivia passed her GCSEs this year and wants to follow a similar path.” Elliott is a dad to five children; Elliott Jr, 19, Olivia, 15, from a previous relationship. While he also has Billy, five, John, two, and Dolly, who was born in August. He added that the move back to the UK feels like the right step for his family after more than two decades in Spain. “It's something Sadie and I have been talking about for the last two years, and we've decided we need to all be together. It's a bold new chapter for us. I've loved every second of Olivia's, but it's time to turn the page.” The restaurant, which is named after his daughter, has become a hotspot for celebrities and holidaymakers alike since opening in 2015. Over the years, Olivia's has hosted a string of star-studded parties featuring Elliott's TOWIE co-stars including Mark and Jess Wright, Ferne McCann , and James Argent , who has performed there on numerous occasions. Elliott, who first rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex between 2010 and 2017, described Olivia's as his “passion” and “a love story”. In an exclusive chat with The Mirror , he said, “It's given me some of the best memories I'll ever take with me. But all things come to an end, and now it's time to hand the baton to the next custodian.” The sale includes the freehold beachfront property and the Olivia's La Cala brand and trademark. The sprawling 9,000 sq ft venue will go to auction through Bromley Estates Marbella, with a starting bid of €5 million. All bids must be submitted by December 5. Like this story?
