Elche’s city council has announced a heartfelt tribute: a portion of the Paseo de Atzavares, located next to the iconic Martínez Valero stadium, will be officially dedicated to Diego Quiles Navarro, the former president of Elche CF. The decision, approved by the local government, recognises Quiles not only for his key role in the club’s history but also for his enduring impact on the city. He presided over the club during two pivotal periods, leading Elche CF to three promotions – including a celebrated return to La Primera in the 1983-84 season.
