Gilbert Flores Trending on Billboard Sombr is weighing in after a TikToker went viral for her harsh criticism of his concert. In a recent TikTok captioned “rant”, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter addressed the polarizing remarks of a 25-year-old creator who said she wasn’t charmed by Sombr’s “vulgar” jokes, “cringe” stage presence and “terrible” singing and dancing at a recent live performance. Though the disgruntled concertgoer said that she’d been a fan of the musician going into the show, she wouldn’t advise anyone “over the age of 16” to buy a ticket to see Sombr, whom she compared to “Slenderman.” Sombr Is No. 1 on Hot 100 Songwriters Chart: ‘Songwriting Is Where It All Began for Me’ Sombr Replaces Himself at No. 1 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs Chart Sombr & Olivia Dean to Make ‘Saturday Night Live’ Debuts, With Glen Powell Set to Host for First Time “I thought I was chronically online, but it’s just come to my attention that there’s a TikTok drama going around,” Sombr told followers in his video. “Because a 25-year-old attended my concert and was basically complaining that there were too many tweens there, I was making too many brain rot jokes, and she just thought it was a cringe concert.” “I totally respect people having opinions, but I am a 20-year-old artist — freshly 20,” he continued. “And if you’re 25 years old, and you’re going to come to my concert and not expect people younger than you to be there, when I the artist am five years younger than you, it’s just a skill issue.” The producer went on to call out the “Slenderman” comment, which he said started “a massive body-shaming hate train” against him. “Everyone is welcome in my concert, and I mean everyone,” Sombr added. “You guys need to find problematic people to hate on, because I am just existing.” Though Sombr’s live show may not be everyone’s thing, the musician is currently gaining fans at a rapid pace. After breaking through with his hit “Back to Friends,” Sombr reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Songwriters chart. Earlier in October, it was announced that he will be making his debut as a Saturday Night Live musical guest later this fall.
