Kolkata The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday conducted a simultaneous raid and search operations in connection with its ongoing investigation into a fake passport case in West Bengal's Nadia district.The central agency conducted the raid at the house of a carpenter at Chakdah. Sarkar's mobile phone is also under ED scanner, sources said.The raid and search was conducted in one Biplab Sarkar’s residence, who is a carpenter by profession, from early morning today. He has alleged links in the fake passports racket. The raid was being conducted as part of a probe into the case linked to a Pakistani national, Azad Mallik, who was arrested earlier this year.Biplab Sarkar’s name reportedly surfaced following the arrest of Indu Bhushan Halder, a middleman who was nabbed last month by the central agency. After the interrogation of Haldar, who was allegedly involved in the fake passport racket, Sarkar’s name came to the fore, people in the know said. The family members of Sarkar are also under the scanner for their alleged involvement in the illegal activities.Early this morning the central agency team reached Chakdaha’s Parari village and started a search and raid in his mud house. Both Sarkar and his family members were questioned, sources said.Live EventsA Pakistani citizen Azad Mallick was arrested in connection with a fake passport case earlier this year.
