Early Ruben Amorim request pays off as Gary Neville makes big prediction on two Man Utd stars

Ruben Amorim's desire for proven players in the transfer market already appears to be paying off. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo made a key difference as Manchester United beat Brighton at home for the first time since 2022. Cunha marked the occasion with his first goal for the club , while Mbeumo scored his fifth goal of the campaign as the Red Devils recorded a third victory on the bounce . It will not surprise many that they have such ability after they scored 35 goals combined in the Premier League last season while at Wolves and Brentford, respectively. United spent big money on the pair, splashing £200million to transform their forward options by bringing them to Old Trafford alongside Benjamin Sesko. The early indications are that it may just pay off. Certainly, Gary Neville reckons United now have two players who will be regular match-winners for the club. The Salford City owner believes they have the required hunger to push the club on. "With Cunha and Mbeumo, the risk of those signings was removed because in the sense they had played in the Premier League before and they had the hunger to deliver at a different level," Neville told Sky Sports . "Mbeumo looks like he belongs. He looks hungry and that he wants to score goals. Manchester United have something to build on. Cunha and Mbeumo will win a lot of matches for Manchester United." Neville's Sky Sports colleague Jamie Redknapp believes that United could finish as high as fifth this season. "We can’t get carried away but there is no reason why this team can’t get in the top five [in the Premier League]," he said. "They certainly have that kind of capability. But the manager, as he said, will be under no illusions. It can quite quickly go the other way." Neville believes the win over Brighton was pivotal for Amorim. The ex-United defender reckons the Portuguese coach has been relieved of a great deal of pressure. "The narrative coming into this game was that Manchester United couldn't take a step back after what happened at Anfield last week and the win today was absolutely crucial," he said on Sky Sports . "I think it has been Ruben Amorim's best and most important week in the job. I think it gives him a bit of time. "I am not saying he's off the hook but Manchester United are up there towards the top of the league and is certainly takes a lot of pressure off him."
