Former NFL quarterback Drew Brees is set for a full-time return to the broadcast booth in a move that suggests Mark Sanchez is done at FOX amid his legal troubles. According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, Brees will sign a multi-year deal with FOX Sports and will begin working with the network a week from Sunday. “He will work as an analyst the rest of the year and is signed up to call games through at least next season,” Marchand reports. “The exact terms of the deal are not yet known, but it is expected to be for multiple years. Fox and Brees have agreed and a signed contract is expected soon.” Brees, who was notably critical of the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense earlier in the season, will now have the opportunity to call it as he sees it on national TV. His arrival will add even more big-name power to the network, given that they already have top analysts in Tom Brady and Greg Olsen. He is expected to pair with Sanchez’s former partner, Adam Amin, with the former having gone off the air since he was arrested for his involvement in an altercation back in October that left him nursing stab wounds. FOX hasn’t announced Sanchez’s departure, but his tenure with the company is likely coming to an end. Brees, meanwhile, has made several appearances on ESPN this season, joining Stephen A. Smith on “First Take” to discuss the latest NFL developments as part of a non-exclusive deal.
