The Miami Dolphins have experienced a major change in their front office that could lead to some huge movement on the trading front. General manager Chris Grier is no longer with the team, and it appears trade calls are coming in, especially for star receiver Jaylen Waddle. More news: NFL Makes Final Decision on Punishment for Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Controversy Though it is “highly unlikely” that the Dolphins trade Waddle ahead of the deadline, the team’s reported asking price for the offensive playmaker has been revealed. Waddle being traded would not make a lot of sense for the Dolphins, even with their 2-7 season seemingly all but lost. Tyreek Hill is out for the season, and the former Alabama receiver would now serve as the cornerstone player to build around for the future. That is a major reason why the Dolphins would not consider trading him. However, Adam Schefter has revealed what the price might be for the Miami front office to consider trading Waddle. Schefter broke down all the current rumors and questions regarding the Dolphins with their major front office shakeup. One question that keeps popping up is whether they would be willing to trade Waddle, and for what price. Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle of the Miami Dolphins. Essentially, the only way the Dolphins would consider trading Waddle is if they were given a first-round pick and more compensation. That would be a steep price for any team to consider. Waddle secured over 1,000 yards in the first three seasons of his career with the Dolphins. In 2024, his numbers dipped significantly, as he only hauled in 744 yards and two touchdowns. Waddle is currently on a much better pace in 2025, bringing in 586 yards and four touchdowns through nine games thus far. Through four and a half seasons thus far, Waddle has 4,715 yards and 24 touchdowns. The Dolphins receiver is a star, and nobody would argue that. However, a first-round pick and more may turn most teams off. Then again, there are plenty of wide receiver-needy teams that may see him as the young and dynamic player who can push them over the edge in 2025. The San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots, and Pittsburgh Steelers are three contenders that are in desperate need of a receiver. The Steelers also traded with the Dolphins in the offseason, bringing in Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith for Minkah Fitzpatrick. Champ Kelly is serving as the Dolphins’ interim general manager with Grier out. Reports have indicated Grier’s reluctance on wanting to trade players in a presumed lost season is why the team moved on. Kelly is likely getting the wheels spinning on Miami stacking draft capital for their eventual reset in 2026. Those wheels spinning may include pass rushers like Jalen Phillips and Bradley Chubb, but Waddle might not be the player the team would move, unless they are offered a huge haul.
