Dog owners waring as pet develops epilepsy after trip to park

A dog owner has shared a health warning to all other Brits with a canine after after a harrowing experience left her pet suffering with a form of epilepsy. Gemma Johnson took to TikTok to reveal how her Cavapoo, Moby became unwell following a routine trip to the local park . "A few weeks ago we went to the park we always go to and some people had left some litter lying around and amongst it was some sort of food," she began in a clip she hopes will raise awareness. "That food was toxic to dogs and before I had chance to get to him he had eaten it." As an awful consequence, this has left Moby with a type of epilepsy called Fly Catcher's Syndrome, symptoms of which include focal seizures, stomach sensitivity and macular degeneration, which will result in blindness before the age of five . Gemma closed with a message: "You need to think twice before littering or leaving food and causing damage." In response to questions from her followers, she added: "I did take him to the vet. They are the ones who diagnosed the Fly Catching Syndrome, sensitivities and allergies, and macular degeneration... he was given injections and medication." Sadly, however, the vet wasn't able to ascertain what food has led to the condition. "My dog has focal seizures similar to your dog except from the fly catching," another dog owner penned in response. "The vet also advised us it was to do with his stomach, we got pumpkin seed powder for dogs off Amazon and he hasn’t had any since!" A second person sympathised: "I’m so sorry to hear this. It’s so bad the amount of food people drop without thinking, my Labrador is always eating random stuff on walks." Whilst a third TikTok user asked Gemma: "This is awful, can they do any thing to help him?" To which she sadly revealed: "He was given injections and medication at the first point of treatment - he can go onto epilepsy medication - BUT the epilepsy medication will probably kill him with liver damage before the epilepsy does." Fly Catchers Syndrome - also known as Stargazing - is an uncommon subset of clinical signs, mostly consisting of sudden onset of occasional or constant episodes in which dogs seem to be watching something and then suddenly snap at it, often in association with jumping, licking, lip-smacking or swallowing behaviours, according to Southfields Veterinary Specialists . The site adds: "This can occur in dogs of any breed or age. The syndrome is poorly understood and there are several possible theories to cause these episodes. "The episodes may represent one or a combination of these problems, which may include
