The Los Angeles Dodgers had a chance to build a commanding lead in the World Series over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday, but they came up short and the series became tied up instead. The Dodgers could have given themselves the opportunity to close out the Fall Classic at home and seemed to have a good chance with superstar Shohei Ohtani on the mound. But after the loss, manager Dave Roberts was clear about the reason the team was unsuccessful. “We haven’t found our rhythm,” Roberts said in his postgame comments, per a video shared by FOX Sports: MLB’. “We haven’t. It sort of draws dead at certain parts of the lineup in different innings, different games.” While the Dodgers have enjoyed spectacular starts from their pitchers throughout the postseason, the team’s star-studded batting order has been a different story. The Dodgers are well behind the Blue Jays in total runs, hits, homers and RBI in the playoffs so far and behind the Blue Jays in virtually every offensive averages category. Obviously, the Dodgers still have a chance to capture a repeat World Series championship thanks to their pitching. But given the typical prowess of their offense, which includes future Hall of Fame sluggers like Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and Ohtani, the lack of production is notable. Though Roberts fell short of singling out any hitter in particular, it seems he could consider a change at the bottom of the order with outfielder Andy Pages enduring a particularly harsh series at the plate.
