Dodgers' Will Smith Continues Unbelievable MLB Streak With World Series Win

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith continued one of baseball’s weirdest streaks after helping his team win the World Series. Smith hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the 11th inning of Game 7, giving the Dodgers a lead which they protected at the turn of the inning as eventual World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto got the final three outs. With his playing future up in the air, it will come down to the Dodgers’ Will Smith to keep the streak rolling. Unless the Academy Award-winning actor Will Smith can serve as a DH somewhere. He is one of the better hitters in baseball over the last few years, putting up good regular-season numbers while delivering in clutch moments come October. “You can’t say enough about Will, man,” Dodgers legend Clayton Kershaw said about Smith. “He just goes about his business, doesn’t complain … catches 18 innings, flies through the night, catches again. His legs have to feel like Jell-O. “He’s calling all the pitches, helping all the pitching staff, guiding us all through it. He’s a superstar. When you talk about superstars on our team — he’s a superstar. He really is. He might not get the publicity of these other guys but he’s a superstar.” The Dodgers plan to build upon their newly acquired dynasty. Assuming they keep adding new pieces to the team, Smith will have the chance to keep the streak going for a while.
