West Coast Main Line have revealed a train that derailed in Shap, Cumbria has been removed from the tracks, but disruptions are still ongoing. The shock derailment took place Monday, November 3 at 6.10am with the Avanti West Coast service from Glasgow Central to London Euston. Reportedly caused by a landslide, 87 passengers and crew on board were evacuated to a nearby hotel with no major injuries reported. In an update on, X West Coast Main Line have revealed after working through 'wet and windy' weather, the train has now been removed. Additionally overhead line repairs have been completed and earth, track and signalling work is ongoing. The post read: "Our team at Shap have been working through the night in wet and windy weather. "So far: The train has been removed. "Overhead line repairs completed. "Earth, track and signalling work ongoing. "Please check National Rail for travel advice - disruption will continue all day." According to updates from Avanti West Coast, no one should still attempt to travel north of Preston on Tuesday, as repair works continue. The infrastructure between Penrith North Lakes and Oxenholme Lake District is still being restored. Destinations north of Preston include Blackpool, Lancaster, Oxenholme, Penrith, Carlisle, Lockerbie, Motherwell, Glasgow, Haymarket, and Edinburgh. Tickets on this route dated November 3 and 4 can be used at no extra cost anytime from November 5-7. Ticket acceptance is in place on alternative routes with the following operators: Avanti West Coast said in an X statement: "It is likely there will be significant disruption to this part of our network for a number of days. "f you abandoned your journey as a result of the disruption, you can claim a fee-free refund of your unused ticket from where you bought it. "If you continued with your journey but were delayed by 15 minutes or more, you can claim Delay Repay compensation from the train company you were booked to travel with." Network Rail said in a previous statement: "The incident followed a suspected landslip in the area which has been experiencing significant adverse weather conditions and extremely heavy rainfall continues to compound the issue."
