Deputy Interior Minister urges stakeholders to adopt innovative approach to safety and security

By Michael Kofi Kenetey The Deputy Minister of Interior who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo Constituency in the Eastern Region , Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, has urged stakeholders in the security and safety sector to adopt innovative, and collaborative approaches as well as modern-day security and safety strategies to address the evolving security challenges in the country. Mr. Terlarbi emphasized the need for unified and proactive approaches to emerging security threats, including cybercrime, climate-induced disasters, public health crises, and transnational terrorism. The Lower Manya Krobo lawmaker was speaking during the 2025 Ghana Security and Safety Conference and Expo held in Accra, the Greater Accra Region. He noted that technology offers unprecedented tools to enhance security and emergency response capabilities, citing examples such as drones, surveillance systems, and cybersecurity frameworks. The Deputy Minister pledged Interior ministry’s commitment to modernizing its approaches, investing in training, and adopting innovative tools to enhance effectiveness. He urged all stakeholders to seize the moment to invest in innovation, strengthen partnerships, and demonstrate through their actions that Ghana is a secure, stable, and forward-looking nation. The conference which was on the theme, “Innovating for Safety, Strengthening National Preparedness Against Emerging Threats,” brought together public and private sector leaders, innovators, and advocates to discuss strategies for strengthening Ghana’s security landscape.
