PTC Web Desk: In an unusual yet futuristic announcement, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama revealed that the country’s AI-powered Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Diella, is “pregnant” with 83 digital assistants. The statement, made during the Berlin Global Dialogue (BGD), has sparked widespread attention, with Pop Base’s post on X (formerly Twitter) amassing nearly 3 million views.Rama explained that these 83 “children” of Diella will function as virtual assistants for each Member of Parliament (MP) from Albania’s ruling Socialist Party. The AI assistants will help MPs during parliamentary sessions by recording discussions, offering suggestions, and ensuring members stay updated on proceedings even if they are temporarily absent.“Each one will serve as an assistant, keeping a record of everything that happens in the parliament and advising MPs accordingly,” Rama said. “If you step out for coffee and miss part of a discussion, this assistant will inform you of what was said and guide you on how to respond.”The government expects the AI system to be fully operational by the end of 2026.Diella, whose name means “sun” in Albanian, was appointed in September 2025 as the world’s first AI Minister. Designed as a woman in traditional Albanian attire, Diella first appeared in January 2025 as a virtual assistant on the e-Albania portal, where she helped citizens and businesses access government documents and services.Her elevation to a ministerial role marks a major step in Albania’s efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into governance, and her “digital offspring” are expected to revolutionize how MPs work and interact with technology in the public sector.
