Alan Sheehan insists he's still the right man to lead Swansea City, despite growing frustrations from supporters. Pressure has grown on the Swans boss following the hammering at the hands of Ipswich Town on Saturday, a defeat that was underpinned by largely pitiful performance. Cameron Burgess scored two own goals, while Jack Clarke and Ivan Azon also found the net on a disastrous afternoon for the hosts, who responded with a second-half strike from Goncalo Franco. A section of supporters vented their frustrations at full-time, with some calling for Sheehan to go. Having lost five in their last eight in all competitions, Swansea head into the international break 18th in the Championship, and are now eight points adrift of the top six. Asked if he was still the right man to lead the football club, the Swans boss said: "Yes, I believe I am. "Of course I do. I think anybody who's at the training ground, the culture that we have, the environment. "We've not had a lot of time on the grass with the players. I think we've got 12 guys going away now and we don't see them until Thursday before Bristol City again. "So we do want to tweak things of course. We want to evolve, we want to individually develop the players that we have brought in. We try to give them the right amount of minutes to make that impetus to play regularly. "But look, today is a disappointing day. I understand that. "I understand the fans' frustration because we all want to win." There's no suggestion at this stage that Sheehan's position is under threat, but having already lost ground in the top-six chase, there's a growing feeling Swansea's season is in danger of drifting. "I think it's always a challenge," he said when asked if he was concerned about his position. "I want to win. I told you that when I was taking it. We've brought in a lot of players. We've brought in 12 and lost 18 as well. We've brought in players we have to get ready for the Championship to play regularly. "There's some of those players that can't do three-game weeks at the moment, but we have to get them up to a level where they can perform week in week out in the Championship, physically, because it is a demanding league. "Today's a disappointing day and no matter what I say it's not going to turn anybody's opinion. We had a game today where we didn't show up to the level at all. "Then second half, we give ourselves an opportunity and then concede by giving the ball away and we're giving ourselves a lot to do in games. "Nothing good comes easy. I think every manager goes through spells where they don't win consistently. You need to be strong, and you need to be confident. You need to believe in what you do, and I do believe that. "I think we get so many plaudits from opposition managers and staff etc about what we do, but we need to turn some of them performances and what we do into wins." -- *Follow all of our social channels to ensure you stay up to date with the latest Swans news.
