The Dakshina Kannada district administration has announced the list of recipients for this year’s Kannada Rajyotsava Awards, honouring individuals and organisations for their remarkable contributions across various fields. The prestigious awards recognise excellence in social service, art, culture, sports, media, and business. Celebrating excellence across diverse fields A total of 80 individuals and institutions have been selected for the Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Rajyotsava Awards 2025. The awards will be presented on Saturday at Nehru Maidan, Mangaluru, as part of the district’s Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations. Among the prominent recipients are Joseph Mathias, Remona Evette Pereira, and Sathish Ira, who have made significant contributions in their respective fields of art, culture, and media. The recognition celebrates individuals who have upheld the spirit of Karnataka through their dedication and service to society, fostering unity and pride in the Kannada identity. Honouring those who serve society The district administration has acknowledged several individuals for their outstanding service to society. Sr Luciana Pinto, head of Mercy De Home for Orphans, Paneer, Deralakatte, has been honoured for her selfless work in social service. Peter Jerome Rodrigues from Bantwal and Rajani Shetty from Mangaluru have also been recognised for their efforts in improving community welfare. Joseph Mathias has been awarded for his contributions to both social service and art. In the institutional category, Ami Ani Amchim, Mangaluru, has been selected for its remarkable role in promoting community and cultural engagement through creative initiatives. Prem Moras has been recognised for his sustained contribution to the promotion of the Konkani language, helping preserve linguistic diversity in the coastal region. Achievements in sports, business, and media Joylene Mural Lobo from Moodbidri has been honoured for her achievements in athletics at the state, national, and international levels, bringing laurels to the district through her performances. In the business domain, Dr Vivian Mendonca from Kadri has been recognised for his excellence and innovation in entrepreneurship, contributing to local economic growth. Sathish Ira, a well-known journalist, has been awarded for his achievements in the field of press and media, acknowledging his dedication to truthful reporting and impactful storytelling.
