Country Music Star Discusses Taking a Break From Music: ‘I Hadn’t Really Spoken a Lot About It’

There’s no question that country music artists have busy lifestyles. Sometimes the constant grind of touring, promoting music, and being in the public eye can become overwhelming or make one feel unwell. Needless to say, everybody needs to slow down once in a while, and even Ella Langley can attest to that. Folks will recall the Alabama native, 26, whose star has blown up over the past year, took a hiatus from music during the fall of 2025 to rest and to focus on her “health, mind, body, and heart.” At the time, Langley announced via Instagram that she would be cancelling the rest of her August tour dates, citing “sickness” and “feeling more run down than ever” as her reasoning behind the decision. On Thursday, Nov. 6, Langley reflected on her choice to take a break from music earlier this year during night one of back-to-back shows held at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The powerhouse vocalist discussed the topic with her audience before debuting a rousing rendition of her unreleased song, “Lovin’ Life Again,” co-written with Ernest, who was on hand to back her up on guitar. She Has Rarely Opened up About the Subject With Her Fans “I took a couple of weeks off this year, and I hadn’t really spoken a lot about it since,” she began as shown in a video on Instagram. “Since I graduated high school, seriously, I’ve put this thing number one in my life above everything else, above myself, really. My band and I got to a point this year where we were looking in the mirror and didn’t recognize ourselves the way we used to. We were tired. We needed a break. We had been doing this every weekend forever….we just needed a break.” “I can’t explain how much that changed my life,” she continued, sharing how the chance to unwind gave her a fresh perspective. “I got to read my Bible for two straight weeks. I got to go back home and spend more time there than I had spent at home since I left. I bought my first house, and I got to sit in it for the first time. I got to sit there and see what is happening in my life and the thing that I’m working so hard for, and how it is changing my life and my family’s life.” Ella Langley Is Back in Full Force Langley went on to say that her time to simply recharge and enjoy the moment that she has worked so hard for made her feel “rejuvenated.” “I felt like I had found myself in a way that I’ve never found myself, but also, I was more me than I had been in a lot of years, if that makes any sense,” she shared. “It took me going back home to find my roots.” Langley isn’t the only artist to press the pause button on touring life. Both Hardy and Nate Smith are just a few stars who have done the same.
