Gravity’s hit IP Ragnarok is getting a mainline, numbered sequel: Ragnarok Online 3 has obtained China’s import game license (service approval), clearing a major regulatory hurdle for release in the market. China’s National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) on the 22nd published its list of newly issued licenses for foreign-made titles. According to the list, Ragnarok Online 3 was officially granted an import game license on the 21st, passing the essential gateway for operating the game in China. Ragnarok Online 3 is a multiplatform MMORPG that modernizes the franchise’s signature charm. As shown during the global test in July, it introduces a multiverse framework that expands the existing lore, layering varied class traits and progression combinations to enable diverse, build-driven play. It also adds a free-trade system and a Vending (player-run shop) system, with guild content further reinforced. Licenses were granted for both the mobile and PC client versions. The Chinese service will be operated by Shanghai Rexue Network Technology Co., Ltd. Ragnarok Online 3 is currently targeting a 2025 launch, with an exact release date yet to be announced.
