Adamu, Ofulue assume office as new DVCs of NOUN

The Management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has approved the appointment of Professor Shehu Usman Adamu and Professor Christine Ofulue as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Technology, Innovation, and Research), respectively. This development was contained in separate letters of appointment dated September 5, 2025, and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Mr. Oladipo A. Ajayi. ALSO READ: Wike pledges support for Nigeria’s first international airshow In the letter to Prof. Adamu, the Registrar wrote:“Following your election by the University Senate at its 112th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, and the subsequent ratification of the Senate’s decision by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council on behalf of the Governing Council, I am pleased to convey your appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration). “As the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), you will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor and expected to assist him in the day-to-day administration of the university, with particular emphasis on providing leadership in administrative governance and institutional management towards advancing the university’s strategic goals.” Prof. Adamu, who hails from the Faculty of Health Sciences, is a former Dean of the faculty. Similarly, in the appointment letter to Prof. Ofulue, the Registrar stated:“Following your election by the University Senate at its 112th Regular Meeting held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, and the subsequent ratification of the Senate’s decision by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council on behalf of the Governing Council, I am pleased to convey your appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Technology, Innovation, and Research). “As the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (TIR), you will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor and expected to assist him in the day-to-day administration of the university, with particular emphasis on providing leadership in technology, innovation, and research towards advancing the university’s strategic goals.” The Director of Media and Publicity at NOUN, Mr. Ibrahim Sheme, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja, said the appointments are for a two-year tenure in the interim. “The Council expressed confidence that their wealth of experience and dedication will significantly contribute to the realisation of the university’s vision and mission,” the statement added.
