Coronation Street's Millie Gibson supported by co-stars after heartbreaking announcement

Coronation Street stars have supported Millie Gibson after a devastating loss. Millie, who portrayed the mischievous Kelly Neelan on the ITV soap since 2019, was involved in some major storylines during her time on the cobbles. From participating in a hate crime attack to being fostered by Imran Habeeb (Charlie de Melo) and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor), her stint in Weatherfield was certainly filled with drama. However, in 2022, Millie decided to bid farewell to the soap, admitting that while it was a tough decision, she had to "trust her instinct". Post her exit, she has kept herself occupied by securing a role as The Doctor's companion Ruby Sunday, in the BBC and Disney+ series Doctor Who from 2023 to 2025, reports the Daily Star . Sadly, this week, Millie suffered a personal loss when her cherished dog passed away. Sharing a series of photos of her adorable pet on Instagram, Millie wrote: "15 years with the bestest friend I could ever ask for. "Heart is so broken. You are so loved. Rest peacefully my wolf. I love you Spike." Her fans and fellow cast members quickly offered their support. Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah, commented: "Oh darling I'm heartbroken for you. What a beauty he was. Love you." Sally Carman, who portrays Abi Webster, added: "I'm so sorry lovely." One fan expressed their sympathy, saying: "Oh dear Millie, so sorry to hear this. What a beautiful boy he was. Big hug, sending you much love." Another wrote: "Oh darling! So sorry for your loss. What a beautiful fur baby! Sending big hugs!". In other news about Millie, she's set to star in the upcoming period drama The Forsytes, where she'll be almost unrecognisable as a ballet dancer with flowing red hair. The six-part series, inspired by John Galsworthy's novels, features an impressive line-up of stars including Joshua Orpin from Home and Away, Eleanor Tomlinson from One Day, Jack Davenport from This Life, and Tuppence Middleton from Downton Abbey, along with Francesca Annis, Jamie Flatters, Susan Hampshire and Danny Griffin. Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
