Coronation Street newcomer Beth Nixon has teased that a 'calculated' twist is coming up in a new grooming storyline. The actress has just made her TV debut as teacher Megan on the world's longest-running TV soap opera, and it was revealed on Wednesday night's episode that she has been having an illicit affair with 15-year-old Will Driscoll. Will had gone missing for a period of time before he was set to arrive at his new home of the Rovers Return with his family, and Megan drove him up from Hull having claimed to have found him sleeping rough , but all was not as it seemed as she was later seen promising the teen that she was working on a way they could be together. Now, Beth has teased that her alter-ego is set to get a job at the local secondary school, and will strike up some sort of relationship with fellow teacher Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), who is the son of Ken Barlow, all in attempt to cover her tracks and make her young lover jealous. She said: "She's a maths teacher and PE coach, she coaches Will and does athletics on the side. She meets Daniel when she's in Weatherfield training Will, and then he gets her the job at Weatherfield High. So she eventually moves to be closer to Will and becomes a PE teacher. "I think she's calculated with it because, one, it's a good cover story. But two, she's also able to make Will jealous and further manipulate him, further deepening his obsession. But I think that over time, she does develop some kind of feelings for Daniel and she does get emotionally involved with him, and it's not just a cover like she's telling Will. "But obviously, she's just getting herself into more and more of a mess because if she does eventually develop feelings for Daniel, she can't then leave Will because it's all going to come out, and she needs to silence him, keep him quiet. "So she's kind of spinning all these plates and having to juggle all these different things, which adds to her stress. She's like a duck, calm, cool, collected on the surface, but underneath she is going crazy." Fans were initially divided by the whole storyline when it kicked off. Will is the stepson of landlady Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) and the son of landlord Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker). His debut on the cobbles was delayed after he did not arrive on the train from Hull as planned. After being missing for a couple of days, a woman known as Megan arrived with him, claiming she had found him sleeping rough in the sports complex. One fan immediately took to Reddit , where they noted that the timing of the storyline just seems off because it is on an entirely new character. They wrote: "In this particular storyline, the audience is just thrown into something highly illegal without really being given much backstory other than they met at a camp, and he was taken in by her. There is no slow progression. It’s just already there and for a character that we don’t know and don’t yet care about that’s a really weird thing to do as a storyline and a really weird place to start him. does anyone else agree?" Another fan had completely bought into the storyline as they labelled Megan as a 'disgrace' for having a relationship with Will in the first place. They wrote: "Will's gymslip affair has obviously been going on for a while because Ollie found that old love letter. That woman is a disgrace. I can't wait for Ben to find out. And I'm praying for Ben to be the one to bring Carl's hit and run crime of Tyrone to the fore." Coronation Street is on ITV and STV at 8pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday and ITVX and STV Player at 7am
