The Education Department will conduct a full system test of its new air conditioning units at Educational Complex High School on Wednesday as the it prepares to reinstate full-day instruction at the island’s public high school. The walkthrough will be done with the Bureau of School Construction and Maintenance, led by Executive Director Craig Benjamin, along with the project’s electrical contractor. Officials said the inspection is a key step to ensure all systems are working safely and efficiently before restoring normal operations. The results of the test will determine whether full-day schedules can resume Monday, Nov. 3, for St. Croix district high schools as planned. “Ensuring a safe and comfortable learning environment for students and staff remains a top priority,” the department said, thanking parents, students, faculty and the community for their patience. VIDE said they will provide an update after Wednesday’s scheduled walkthrough to share findings and confirm the official status of the return to full-day instruction. The department also thanked the Bureau of School Construction and Maintenance, contractors, district leadership, principals and school staff for helping prepare for the transition.
