The Commonwealth Fair marked its 100th anniversary in spectacular fashion at the Kensington & Chelsea Town Hall bringing together communities from across the Commonwealth. The fair on Saturday was a vibrant showcase of all that the Commonwealth has to offer — from a vast range of foods and exotic drinks to dazzling fashion, colourful arts and cultural displays. It celebrated a century of friendship, culture, and shared purpose through the Commonwealth Countries League. Sierra Leone Women’s Association presented their annual £500 cheque, earmarked for the education of girls in Sierra Leone. This tradition holds deep historical significance, as Sierra Leone was the first country to receive funds from the CCL following a visit by suffragette Alice Hemming to an orphanage in 1967. Celebrations continued with the Centenary Cake Cutting Ceremony, featuring a stunning cake donated by Maylene Cupcakes, and a stirring performance from soprano Grace O’Marley who sang You’ll Never Walk Alone, accompanied by special effects from Confetti Magic. Joyful rhythms came from PanDiva, from Trinidad & Tobago, the energetic performances of cultural troupe dancers from Ghana, and the graceful movements of St Lucia’s traditional dancers.
